A new place to find music - dictator records in Gro
Sir Classic (also known as Seneca Dejuan McFarland), acclaimed DJ and record producer, recently announced the grand opening of Dictator Records, a new independent record store and music hub located in Greensboro. The store opens with an expansive selection of vinyl across genres, a lineup of live events, and community-minded programming designed to support local artists and music lovers.
As a DJ and record producer, Sir Classic has long been fighting against the machine of music production to carve out space for independent artists and music producers, and the opening of Dictator Records only furthers this goal.

Dictator Records aims to fill a gap in the Piedmont Triad by offering new and used vinyl, limited-edition pressings, turntables and accessories, and a listening lounge where customers can preview records before purchase. The shop will host weekly DJ sets, album release parties, in-store performances and vinyl listening nights that spotlight regional talent and touring acts. In addition, the store will partner with nearby venues, schools and cultural organizations to create workshops on DJing, record care and music production.

“Vinyl brought me into music, and Dictator Records is my way of giving that experience back to the community,” said Sir Classic. “This isn’t just a store — it’s a place where artists and fans meet, where emerging musicians get a stage, and where the culture of records and DJing can grow in Greensboro.”
The opening weekend featured a ribbon-cutting event, an in-store performance by Sir Classic, and appearances by several local bands and DJs. Customers can also expect exclusive vinyl releases and first-run pressings from regional labels. The shop’s listening lounge is designed to be accessible, with scheduled listening sessions, community listening parties and record swaps to encourage discovery and social connection.

Dictator Records will emphasize accessibility and community support through discounted programs for students and low-income residents, a buy-back and trade-in policy to keep vinyl affordable, and pop-up events in partnership with neighborhood nonprofits. The store will also serve as a creative incubator, offering short-term residencies for emerging producers to showcase their work and host listening sessions.
Local business leaders and cultural organizers say the new store will strengthen Greensboro’s live music ecosystem by providing a permanent retail and performance space for both established and up-and-coming artists. “Independent record stores are catalysts for local scenes,” said a representative of the Greensboro Arts Council. “Dictator Records brings both commerce and creativity, and it will be a meaningful place for our music community.”
Dictator Records is located at 1008 Westside Drive Greensboro, NC 27405 and will be open Monday through Saturday with extended hours on event nights.
